Beneficial gifts

"Give me neither poverty, nor riches, but only my daily bread. Otherwise I may have too much and forget you, or not enough and steal, disgracing you" Proverbs 30:9-10.

Looking back at the old posts on this blog, it feels like a I have a bit of the Groundhog's Day film happening in my life. Every other year we have welcomed a baby into our family and every year we've had major bills to pay because of those babies. Lots of people avoid life's hardest and greatest joy of parenting, counting it a financial burden rather than a blessing. But in the same way that God may keep us from success to shield us from our own boastful downfall, He may also withhold security, developing a deeper faith in His provisions. It takes great discipline to see the constant barrage of unplanned annoyances as purposeful protectors. Whether financial, physical, or emotional, every disruption has purposed derivation.
What should have taken no more than five hours in the car, took us seven hours to get four our little boys to visit grandma in St. Simons, but it was well worth the trip! The boys had a blast at the beach, and all seemed healthy the five days we were gone. The illnesses, doctor's appointments, therapy sessions, and new vehicle frustrations immediately resumed upon our return home. Just as we were scheduled for a near five-hour ride, we were unexpectedly rear-ended on the highway an hour from our house. Thankfully all parties were uninjured, leaving simply mechanical problems to add to our busy appointment week. I trust there's an unknown reason for the accident.
Currently Luca and Roman's fussy tears from their tired tummies are interrupting the flow of my writing. Thus, I must eat my own words and never look a gift horse in the mouth. They are gifts, and their problems may in fact be hidden gifts given for my benefit.
I am aways given my daily bread, for this I choose to give thanks.

Boys were so thankful that another family gifted us their giant dig to enjoy ourselves.

Luca was a perfect beach baby. Never cried and never ate sand.

Saint Simons early morning walks

Silas was fearless on the boogie board and ready to try surfing!

Roman loved his mini board too!

Levi and Luca preferred the castle building...

Thanks for all the fun Gibby!

The boys wanted to try and fix our "broken car" together.

With only one day this week without an appointment, we ventured  to a local pool that Silas has been begging to try. He brought his beach bravery to his first water slide.

Without hesitation, he flew down this slide at least twenty times by himself.

Without the needed height, Levi and Roman chose the fun red one!

This neighborhood pool is better than a water park for our season of life!

Little man held his own too!

A new family game that doubles as dentistry kit! :D

Luca's new favorite pastime is cleaning up his own messes! Fourth child fun! ;D

We are still watching Roman with good days and bad, but those prayers are powerful, so keep them coming please! Tomorrow Luca will celebrate his first birthday with a trip to the vascular abnormalities clinic. Hopefully his constant joy despite circumstances will continue into his second year of life! I can't believe how much he's changing every single day. I'm enjoying the gift!

"His legs flail about as if independent from his body!"

If you are a "Friends" watcher as I have been known to be, you will appreciate that quote. I am getting to see the Chandler Bing's greatest fear--Michael Flatley and the "Lord of the Dance" performance. I am so excited! I've seen a lot of different types of performances in my lifetime (even the gravely strange or soberly artistic modern dance shows), but I've never seen an Irish Riverdance! My mom got tickets for us back in October for my birthday. She is so astute and thoughtful! In case you aren't familiar with "Lord of the Dance." Here is what Wikipedia has to say about Mr. Flately's Dance: "Lord of the Dance is an Irish musical and dance production that was created, choreographed, and produced by Irish-American dancer Michael Flatley, who also took a starring role. Michael Flatley found his first fame starring in Riverdance, but he left the show in 1995 before its debut in London after a disagreement over creative control. F

When you smile...

The whole world smiles! This was his very first "conscious smile" Who says you can't dress up little boys for fun too? Silas enjoyed sleeping at the lake instead of fishing or swimming. Anyone surprised? Our newest pastime consists of singing to Silas until he shows us his new array of smiles. Matthew discovered this newest ability when he began singing a classical ballad... I won't embarrass him by naming the lyrics. It doesn't matter how tired you are, this will make everything better! I mean come on. Are you still having a bad day? Did that make it better yet!? Had my  first few outing without the little man to go to coffee, dance, and this beautiful woman's wedding shower. Love you Christi! Thanks to my old roomie for some over-sized coffee mugs to start my day right. A cup of joe and the Word make life worth living. This is his favorite gesture.  I think he's solving the world's problems. That a boy Silas. I knew
