Easter Strength

Si's first Easter brought his first bought of stomach bug and second round of ear infection. Not ideal, but as Matthew and I also got sick the day after Easter, we truly found strength in our Savior whom we had just celebrated. We've never all been sick at the same time, and while Matthew and I felt better 24 hours later, Silas is still going through something that we hope is just a lethargic complex from lack of calories. I lean on the Lord to guide my steps and decisions, and when I think about what He suffered for me, it makes our suffering insignificant. Thank you Jesus for conquering the grave, so I don't have to wonder what happens after it. The only time my little man has sat still for more than 10 minutes: the calm joy and sad slump of illness. ~EasterBuster

Happy Birthday Silas

This was the first night we brought our little boy home from the hospital. Silas Cary Smith, seeing you in the NICU was so hard, but I've always known you were in God's hands since we first found out about you. It made seeing you at peace that much sweeter. And now all you do is smile... especially at the thought of a bunch of your images all over the wall. Nothing like some good cupcakes to keep the party going. Thanks for rocking the shades Max! Of course Silas wanted to watch the Masters on his birthday too. Didn't know how I was going to get all the balloons and Silas home in our little car. We made it work. Daddy got Silas ready for the Masters! While I got the party ready. You may not remember this when you're old Si, but Mommy had fun doing it. Our sweet boy was spoiled right on his first birthday. Happy Birthday Bud. You'll always be our baby boy. ~CC

Silas is One!

Silas Cary Smith, you are not just a part of our family, you made our family what it is today. From day one, you were a true gift from God, and one year ago today you entered the world and haven't stopped smiling. We love you and thank God for you daily. Our joy is made happier because of you. Keep bringing that joy to everyone you meet! Even though you may not know it's your first birthday, I wanted to celebrate with something fun, so we went to your first petting zoo. You loved it! Can't wait for your party on Saturday!  Happy Birthday my sweet baby boy! Love you Silas ~MommyBuster

Curious Cousins

Silas has a fascination with Daddy's golf stuff..... I'm sure that's not by chance. Just wait till your birthday buddy. You gotta surprise coming your way! We are so grateful for our wonderful sitter, and my dear friend, Caitlyn whom Si gets to play with every Thursday. Caitlyn's little angel Evie loves showing Silas the ropes. Here's how you put a flower in your hair Silas. (sorry daddy!) Silas' first birthday is next week. He was quite excited when his party stuff arrived. He loves Curious George! I think the plates and napkins will be sufficient gifts for his birthday this year. It's always the simple stuff. We just got back from visiting my nephews in Dallas. I think Easton is telling his mommy that a real police officer would drive on the road, not the sidewalk. Duh! Silas couldn't wait to pull some people over in Dallas! Even with his first ear infection before we left, Silas did a great job with the busy week...

Why I blog

Why I blog: 1. Because I'm hoping to earn some extra income with all my witty writings as I am soon discovered by food network wanting me to start a coffee shop. 2. Because I secretly love attending the worldwide blogger conference in Paris, France every Fall. 3. Because I'm incredibly vain and love to put my ideas out on the internet for all to read 4. Because I don't have anything better to do with my time. The real reason: Since I don't put anything on Facebook, I feel the need to tell all my distant friends and relatives (I have no family in town except my momma and T-pop) what is going on in my life. And now that we have Silas, new grandmas tell me how much they love my picture updates. Why not just send a quick picture update via instagram or FB you may be asking yourself? Well, to be honest I think both are kind of like vaccuums for me. I get sucked in to the beautiful lives of others and begin to subconsciously compare my happenings with there's. Inst...

A day in the life of Si

Hmmm, what should I do today? My mommy loves coffee so much she drinks it at night. Maybe I should try it. How come mine doesn't smell like anything? I think Heaven is going to look just like the public library. Mommy took me to "Monkey Joe's" last week too. The big kids were bouncing everywhere! At first the bench seemed just as fun to me. And plenty safer. I mean a loud bang sound when my hand hits it... what could be more fun? Well I soon found out that trucks were more fun. I don't know about this bouncy thing mommy... where are you? Actually, now I think Heaven will have books and bouncy houses! A great way to end the day... "Curious George"... I just love monkeys! I love when Daddy gets home! I think I want to be like him now. What's for dinner mama!? Wow.... you have to try making this famous French sandwhich, Croque Monsieur. A little too big for baby Si though. Next time buddy... ~Monke...
