The perfect iced coffee

Thanks to The Pioneer Woman , I have found the perfect recipe for iced coffee! She even makes a month's supply at once... I knew she was on my blog roll-call for a reason! I could feel our connection when we met. Yes, there's a coffee connection that some people have..... or maybe its just coffee breath. Check out the recipe here: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2011/06/perfect-iced-coffee/ Now, I still have to get some of that mesh cloth (for the pour-over) before I attempt this, and without a house-full of rugrats, like she has, I don't yet own containers that can hold 5 gallons of mac and cheese (as seen in her pictured recipe version), but I'm sure I can figure something out. :) Here's to the many beautiful ways to drink java!  Let me know if you put your own spin on it. I certainly will.... I see dark chocolate in my near future! ~ CC

Wife life

Okay, my husband isn't afraid that someone will eat his sandwich ( Friends  ref.), and therefore must write his name on his lunch bag, but I couldn't resist this photo opportunity. He looks like he's excited about the first day of school. I absolutely love being Matthew's wife. He appreciates all the little things I do (like making his lunch), which I love to do for him anyway! Even though we are disgustingly loving newly weds, we are actually learning a invaluable lesson of service. We seek to serve each other and put one another before our selves. Regardless of how we are feeling, if we can always remember to find joy in serving one another, we'll never stop having a blast being married. :) Speaking of making my hubby some yummy food. Check out the homemade pizza I made for dinner the other night utilizing our fresh basil plant and homemade tomato sauce (can of whole peeled tomatoes, EVOO, oregano, onion, garlic, italian seasoning, and some other spices).  Th...

Green Thumb

I've always wanted a garden. I never knew if my thumb would be green, purple, red, or black, but I really wanted to try my hand at growing some fruits, veggies, flowers and herbs. Well, living in an apartment poses a little bit of a problem. No yard = no garden. Or does it......?   Check it out!  I love having my own fresh herbs at my disposal. Parsley on the left, the struggling center is Rosemary, and the thriving right is my favorite--Basil! Matthew and I are enjoying a lot of Caprese salads like we did in Italy!  There's so many great ways to serve tomatoes, fresh mozzerella, and basil! As I'm crazy busy finishing up my Masters degree in the next 4 weeks, this garden is my connection to the outdoors. I miss the sun sometimes. :(  ~Green ThumbBuster :)

Honeymoon Pictures!

I cannot begin to describe the amazing trip to Europe that Matthew and I had. It was an experience of a lifetime, and we were tempted to never return back to America. The food, the culture, the history, the beauty. Ugh.... it was AMAZING! People keep asking us what our favorite place/part of the trip was. It's so tough to say because all the places we visited were so different. I mean we went from a hug city, to snow-capped mountains, to the beach, to small vineyard towns, to another big historic city. It was almost more than the senses could take. I was on joy-overload! If I had to pick though.... I think it would be a tie between Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland and Cinque Terra, Italy. The scenery was just breathtaking. Here's a few pics from our trip, but if you want to see more (and read a little more about the trip, check out our Picasa site. PARIS : My favorite thing about the city of love = THE FOOD! The food was incredible, and you walk everywhere, so you can eat anyt...

Wedding Pics!

If you want to check out all the wedding pictures, go to: www.ericsamoryphotography.com You'll see some of our picks in the beginning main page, but to view them all, click on "Client Viewing." Then, put my email address: ktblair@gmail.com and the password = coffee (I didn't even pick that password- I guess my reputation precedes me!) Can't wait to get some pictures in our new home! I'm thankful Matthew and I didn't maul each other like this. I'm all for a little fun cake smashing, but I'm REALLY thankful we didn't take it to this extreme! That girl looks like she'll need an eye doctor later. ~CB

Wedding Weekend PART 2

The day before I tied the knot---what does that really mean anyway? I don't get it. Does anyone know the origin of "tying the knot"? If so... the eternal student in me is dying to know cause as far as I remember, I never tied any knots on my wedding day---anyway, everyone kept asking if it had "hit me" yet and was I nervous or stressed. For some reason, only known by God's peace, I had none of those emotions.  I was extremely excited to marry my best friend and get to live with him for the rest of my life. It was a day of true joy. God absolutely poured, no exploded His love on Matthew and I. The words that were spoken by so many loved ones at our rehearsal dinner cannot not be expressed. They were felt from the heart and humbling to the core. I know I've said it a thousand times, but we are truly the most blessed persons on this Earth, and I believe it's God's love coming through so many people that makes us feel so very blessed. He is so good. ...

We interrupt this program

Okay, I had to break away from the past wedding stuff to post on a present marriage situation. I interrupt this program for a very important announcement: If you are not married, you should be. Marriage is amazing. Okay, maybe it wouldn't be if you just married some joe shmoe on the street, but when you find that person that God designed just for you, and you wait on His perfect timing, it is pure bliss!!! Seriously, it will be even more amazing for you if you are still waiting because He is refining you and your spouse to make your marriage incredible! Keep waiting for God's best! Matthew and I are not your traditional newlyweds. Instead of waiting for our one year anniversary, we've been eating large amounts of wedding cake every night this week. Talk about putting on the marriage weight! :)  (But it's totally worth it!) Our typical week night setting. A Large slice of cake, glass of milk, and Friends DVD on our computer (since we still don't have a TV).   ...
