99 days and counting!

blairandsmith.ourwedding.com That's right. We are in the double digits people! Let the count down begin! I cannot wait!!! P.S.  um..... it's like we live in the north. I was loving this! Pics beow from my neighborhood  8 days after SNOWTOPIA (shout out to Mr. Morecraft for the awesome term) 2011 hit greater atlanta. 8  days people.  This white house looked great with the snow. You could barely see it! Chloe had to face this to get to her bathroom. Thank the Lord for indoor plumbing! Site from our back door-- a week later remember! Such a beautiful site from our front door! Stay warm Atlantans! ~CubBuster

How to paint your face on...lesson 1

After my friend Lindsey rang in the new year in Atlanta, she was gracious enough to accompany me to a "make-up lesson." As many of you know, I haven't quite found a close relationship with any possible mainstream misses like Mary Kay, Loreal, or Cover Girl. My closest relationship has occurred with a funny contraption that hugs my eyelashes together to make them salute you proper. So... I was excited to get a lesson for my potential wedding makeup. Needless to say, I feel like I'm a real woman now. I bought a couple staples, and my skin seems to like this organic line--Aveda. I wear significantly less than was brushed onto me during the lesson, but hey, I'm a naaturraalll woooooooman. Aretha knows what I'm talkin bout! Um... is she trying to glue that foam to her eye? This was one the first coat of paint yall Wait, I'm suppose to "line" my eyes and lips?? Who has time for that when you eat like me? Lindsey was so serene. It was l...

Snow days and Sick days

God must have been sick of me whining about missing out on the Christmas snow that took place without me, so He just showed me how much he loves me with LOTS of snow the past couple of days. We got about 6-8 inches here in Atlanta Sunday night into Monday night. Unfortunately, a layer of ice made it a little tough to make snow angels and snow(o)men, but Matthew, his brother Kevin and his friend Helen and I all had fun trekking around in the snowing beautiful park. Come to find out, my mother, sister and Steven have all been battling a 24 hour stomach bug during the snow days, and Matthew also spent the night in the bathroom feeling miserable. I guess if we are all going to be cooped up in various homes we might as well take our sick days with our snow days. I'm just praying my immune system can hold out so that I feel okay my first week teaching. Here's to Flintstone vitamins, Airborne, and echinacea!  Hope you are feeling good and enjoying God's white gift. What is it abo...

Happy 2011

This will be a year to remember for sure. With all the births, weddings, and career changes, 2011 is bound to be an excellent year for the Blair/Smith family. I was blessed enough to ring it in with some of my favorite people. Lindsey and her friend Adrienne came into Atlanta, and Brittany, James Matthew and I had a blast with them at a great restaurant Two Urban Licks  when the clock struck twelve. Actually we only got seated because my fiance has a last name commonly confused with others. We really didn't take someone seat on purpose, but upon stating the entire Smith party was present, we were seated as if we were VIP guests. Our waitress didn't seem to happy to be working though, nor did the woman serving us late night beverages at Cafe Intermezzo  later on in the evening. Come to think of it, some people might think it wasn't a great evening at all, but when your company is that which I had, it seems like a perfect evening despite the attitude of those around you. :) ...

One life ends, Another begins...

This was the last picture I took with Pop when I last saw him in 2007. It is with a bittersweet tone that I say good-bye to my amazing great-grandfather Pop . He lived to be one hundred and five years old. He lived a grand life and saw many great things in our country from the span of 1905 to 2010. It's amazing that he passed away on Jesus's birthday too! I feel so blessed to have known him for so much of my life. I will never forget how he helped me with my high school history project. He spent more than an hour giving me the exact lineage as to my relation to Stone Wall Jackson himself. I will also never forget how he called me a hottie over the phone when he said that Matthew should take care of me since he was with a "hottie." I love you Pop. You will be dearly missed, but I know you are now resting with the Great One in heaven! It is with great joy that I announce the birth of my  nephew, Easton Kelly Shans! He arrived two days before Christmas surprising ...

Season of Joy

Just a little over four months ago, some beautiful, wise, southern women took me under their precious wings and poured out love to me as if I had been in their family all my life. I've never met such women before, and I can only thank the Lord that such gracious, loving, and purely sweet women have given me the opportunity to share in God's blessings, grow in God's word, and gain invaluable wisdom from them. These women came together and threw me my first bridal shower during the busiest time of the year. How could I have felt more special! Apparently I am like a small child when I open presents. This I can only say has always been part of my character. Sometimes for the better, sometimes (with my non-stop questioning of " why ") for the worse. Either way, I had a wonderful time with my ladies small group sharing good food, good fun, and great fellowship. Thank you ladies for being such an amazing gift in my life. God bless each one of you! True Holiday Spirit

My dear friend Brooke, or B, is a speech therapist over at Roswell North elementary school. She works specifically with the pre-school special needs children, and she invited me to come and watch their holiday show this morning. Um..... okay.... 1. I got up before 7 am during my winter break. 2. It couldn't have been more worth it. 3. These children are God's gift to the world. 4. Now I can really remember what Christmas is all about. 5. I loved the "Feliz Navidad" piece where they all just shook their moraccas and their tiny little bodies with joy and jubilation. Thanks for spreading the cheer B! God bless us EVERYONE!!! ~Christmas CubBuster
